1. Introduction The graphic arts industry is under an increasing pressure from different directions. The customers are demanding shorter leadtimes, lower prices and the trend is toward shorter runlenghts (Karttunen 1993). One of the reasons for this is the increasing competition from other media. Print is no longer the only way to convey a message to the consumer.
